Texas Lawmakers Renew Push for Casino and Online Sports Betting Legalization

Texas is once again at the center of a heated debate over the legalization of casinos and online sports betting. Despite past legislative roadblocks, momentum is building with renewed efforts from lawmakers and shifting public sentiment favoring expanded gambling options in the state.

A University of Houston survey found that 60% of Texans favor legalizing sports betting, with bipartisan backing—64% of Democrats and 59% of Republicans expressed support. The numbers are even stronger for casino gambling, with 73% of respondents in favor of legalizing resort-style casinos.
